How to Stay Safe in Crypto
Crypto gives you a lot of control, which also means mistakes and scams can be costly. These are the basics I would want every beginner to know.
About a 2–3 minute readProtect your wallet secrets
Your seed phrase, recovery phrase and private key can provide control over a wallet. They should be treated like the keys to the assets themselves.
Check links and websites
Scammers copy websites, social accounts and branding. A link can look convincing while sending you somewhere completely different.
Use known official sources, check the address carefully and be suspicious of unexpected messages asking you to connect a wallet or act urgently.
Verify the token
Token names, symbols and logos can be copied. The identifying blockchain address is what matters.
Read before you sign
A wallet may ask you to approve or sign a transaction. Do not treat the button as a harmless “continue” prompt. Check what the wallet says the transaction will do.
If you do not understand it, stop and investigate first.
Slow down
Urgency is a common ingredient in scams: limited-time offers, fake support, surprise giveaways and warnings that your wallet needs immediate action.
Pause before clicking, connecting or signing. Crypto transactions can be irreversible, so taking an extra minute to verify something is usually worth it.
You’ve learned the basics
That is enough for now. Pick another short guide when you are ready.
